EXPERIENCE

Columbia Inspection, Inc. (CI) has been calibrating tanks since 1978. Our staff calibrates tanks for numerous petroleum companies, barge companies and military installations. We have also provided tank calibration services to independent trucking companies and wineries. CI will travel to any domestic or international site as part of the calibration service.

METHODOLOGY

Columbia Inspection uses a variety of industry approved methods to accurately calibrate tanks and vessels. Methods currently in use are outlined under the following documents:

  • API 2550 - Method for Measurement and Calibration of Upright Cylindrical Tanks
  • API 2551 - Method for Measurement and Calibration of Horizontal Tanks
  • API 2555 - Method for Liquid Calibration of tanks
  • API Section 7 - Calibration of Barge Tanks
  • API Section 8A - Calibration of Tanks on Ships &: Ocean Going Barges.
  • ISO 7507-4 -Calibration of Vertical Cylindrical Tank-EODR Method.

We can also accommodate unusual or nonstandard tanks and vessels dependent upon the individual requirements of the client.

DIVERSITY

CI can calibrate upright, cylindrical tanks and horizontal tanks. Tanks may either be above or below ground level. We can also calibrate vehicles such as trucks and trailers as well as larger vessels such as barges. We use liquid volume calibration and circumference measurements for external calibration data points. We then use state of the art lasers to gather internal calibration data. These methods are especially effective with steel and concrete underground tanks. Consequently, no job is to small or to big for the CI calibration staff.
